686 Snowboarding
686 clothing! Amazing!?
I recently bought a 686 Snowboarding jacket and pants, and it was AMAZING! I seriously loved it better than ANY other snowboarding line, and believe me, I’ve tried a lot. And so I bought like 20 new clothes from their site today. Anyways, I was just wondering why the line isn’t very famous. Volcom and Burton are super famous, and I didn’t like their clothing half as much as 686. Is it because Volcom sells in stores like PacSun and other famous stores? So why is 686 not very famous? And what do you guys think of it?
first, 686 makes killer stuff, and it’s very well made. Their stuff this year, especially their collab with Levi’s, looks great.
second, it depends on what your definition of “famous” is. Amongst snowboarders 686 is very well known and is considered one of the top outerwear companies up there with Sessions, Volcom, Burton 4square, Holden, etc. etc.
Outside of snowboarding they may not be as well know as Burton or Volcom because they don’t design the olympic snowboard team uniforms like Burton does, or sponsor bands, like Volcom does, and there stuff can generally only be found in core shops (although Sport Chalet carries them, I haven’t figured that out yet) Lot’s of companies don’t want to be sold at Target or Macy’s or even in the same parking lot as the mall,as they feel it erodes there credibility with their true market, die-hard snowboarders, and they don’t want to lose that revenue just to sell more screen printed t-shirts to mall punk kids.
